Taking its cue from John Willett's seminal Art in a City (1967), the first sociological study of art in a single city, the book comprises nine chapters by Lewis Biggs, Sara Selwood, Pam Meecham, Sean Cubitt, Robert Knifton, Mary Jane Jacob, Julie Sheldon, Colin Fallows and Cathy Butterworth and explores themes including Liverpool's arts institutions, public art, live art, learning and interpretation, 'local/glocal', and arts and regeneration.
